Located in Tiantai Hi-Tech Industrial Zone, Zhejiang Silver-Elephant Bioengineering Co., Ltd. (previous Zhejiang Tiantai Silver-Elephant Biochemical Factory) is an advanced hi-tech enterprise with a staff of 300, under leadership of Mr. Shen Yanxin as general manager. We have successfully established a production line of "Silver-Elephant" nisin, with an annual output of 150 tons, which is one of China's National Industrialization Demonstrative Engineering, with total investment of more than USD8.6 million. A modern biochemical factory with brand new workshops and equipment is now into operation.

Our company is accredited as "Quality Efficiency Excellent Enterprise" of China's National Food Industry Association (CNFIA); deputy council unit of current Committee of China Food Additive Association (CFAA); and vice chairman unit of CFAA's Antiseptic-Antioxidant Branch. We are also one of the Top 100 companies of Zhejiang Food Additive Industry; a leading enterprise of Zhejiang food additive production, and a Zhejiang high-tech enterprise.

Supported by National Natural Science Foundation, in cooperation with the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), our company carried out ground researches on nisin, and later on pilot scale experiment of CAS's "8th Five Year Plan" program, industrialized experiment of the national "9th Five Year Plan" key project, and commercial experiment of the national "10th Five Year Plan" key project, which was finally checked and accepted by the Ministry of National Sciences Technology in 2000 and 2004 respectively, therefore successfully finished the national research program. It takes totally ten years for the program to go through laboratory experiment to pilot scale experiment, industrialized experiment, and the final commercial experiment.

The "Silver-Elephant" nisin program is part of China's National Torch Plan. "Silver-Elephant" nisin, natural, effective and safe, is now regarded as a key product of China Food Industry and hi-tech food additive product. It has passed HALAH (Moslem) accreditation, American Kosher (Jewish) accreditation and FAD accreditation, being defined by international clients as "the only vegetable protein type nisin in the world". Our "Silver-Elephant" nisin has became the most competitive nisin worldwide with the largest annual output and the most reliable quality, which accords with more criteria than any other competitors in the whole world, including China QB2394-1998, EU E234, and UK PCCV.
